Aashiqui 3 Director Anurag Basu Breaks Silence On Triptii Dimri’s Exit

The excitement around Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri reuniting for another hit franchise, Aashiqui 3, spread like wildfire over the past few months. It intensified further after the actress completed her look tests for the film and even performed in the mahurat shot.

However, when director Anurag Basu confirmed that Tripti would not be a part of Aashiqui 3, rumours began circulating that she was dropped from the movie because she was ‘too exposed’ for the romantic film, which supposedly required ‘purity in demeanour’ from its female lead.

Now, filmmaker Anurag Basu has denied the rumours and in a conversation with Mid-day, he stated, “That is not true. Triptii knows it too.” Since Dimri’s exit from the movie, the makers have been actively looking for another face for her replacement. According to media reports, Aashiqui 3 is scheduled to go on floors in January or early February 2025.

Triptii gained massive success after starring in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, released in 2023. However, she has been facing widespread backlash over the intimate scenes she had with Ranbir Kapoor in the movie. Ever since, she has faced trolling for choosing projects that don’t suit her personality.

Up next, Triptii has Vishal Bharadwaj’s Arjun Ustara and Karan Johar’s Dhadak 2, both set to release in 2025.
