Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s elder son, Junaid Khan, has been making waves in the industry with his debut movie, Maharaj (2024). The actor recently opened up about his childhood troubles and the experience of growing up with divorced parents. Let us tell you, Aamir’s first marriage with Reena Dutta ended after 16 years in 2002. Later, the Dangal actor married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005. They have a son named Azad. However, Kiran and Aamir parted ways in 2021 and have been co-parenting their son.
In an interview with Vicky Lalwani, Junaid recalled his parents divorce and shared, “It was good. My parents split up, I think, when I was eight. But they never actually let us feel that. I never saw them fight till I was 19. The first time I saw my parents fight, I was 19. So we never saw them disagree or fight.”
He then added that when it came to him and his sister, Ira, his parents were a single unit, and they did well in that department. He said, “I think it was probably a mature thing to do. I mean two good people aren’t always good together and this way we got, at least I got a childhood with both parents being happy.”
Junaid further talked about how his father had evolved as a human being over the years and now spends more time with the family. He also shared that growing up, he never felt the absence of his parents, as he was surrounded by other family members. He added, “Personally I don’t think I missed it so much. Papa used to be there. It’s not like he was entirely not there. In fact sometimes it was like, ‘it’s ok, don’t come…’”
Despite his two divorces, Aamir Khan has maintained healthy relationships with his ex-wives and also played an active role in his children’s lives.
