A timeline of RRR and its various hurdles

When SS Rajamouli first announced that he would be teaming up with NTR and Ram Charan for a massive multistarrer in the form of RRR, fans’ excitement reached the next level. Everyone, fans and audiences alike, were looking forward to RRR – a culmination of world cinema, with actors from Hollywood also a part of the film. The shooting for RRR started off in late 2018, and the film was scheduled to release on July 30, 2020.

However, the filming was taking longer than expected, and the release of the film was pushed to Sankranthi 2021. The Sankranthi release date seemed like the perfect release date for a massive film like RRR, and it looked like Rajamouli would also have been able to wrap up shooting on RRR by then. In March of 2020, the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic hit the entire world, including India, due to which the shooting of RRR had to be stalled.

Shooting once again resumed in October 2020, and once again had to be stopped in 2021, due to the second wave of coronavirus. Right now, RRR is scheduled to release on October 13th, 2021, but it is highly likely that the release of the film will be postponed, given that there’s still quite a bit to be shot. Here’s hoping that RRR shooting is completed as soon as possible, and that it releases very soon.
