Along with Telugu, Malayalam star Mohan Lal and Meena’s 2013 film, Drishyam was remade in Tamil. While Venkatesh and Meena acted in the Telugu version, Kamal Haasan and Gautami played the lead pair in the Tamil language.

Earlier this year the sequel to 2013 Drishyam titled, Drishyam 2 had a direct OTT release on Amazon Prime. After witnessing a tremendous response to the sequel, the makers immediately kick-started the shooting for the Telugu version of Drishyam 2 and wrapped up the entire shooting formalities in less than 2 months.

Now, the latest news is that Jeethu Joseph, who directed the Malayalam and Telugu versions of Drishyam 2 is planning to make the film in Tamil also. Reportedly, Kamal Haasan has agreed to act in the sequel but is not showing interest to act opposite Gautami, who acted in the female lead role in Papanasam(Tamil version title). It is well-known that after being in a live-in relationship for more than a decade, Kamal and Gautami separated in 2016 due to reasons better known to them.

Sources reveal that director Jeethu Joseph is now planning to replace Gautami with Meena( she is the female lead in Malayalam and Telugu) in the Tamil version also and complete the sequel. However, an official announcement regarding Papanasam 2 is yet to be out.
