A story of Black and White money – directed by Demonetization

Films have been produced right from 1931, since they were introduced to Telugu people. If in the start they were hardly 10 in a year now they are at least 100 per year. With films from other languages also coming into our space looking to expand their market and returns, telugu films in particular have been suffering from this huge hangover of the 80’s masala films. It is no wrong in making films for audience but trying to emulate the same result that worked once with every other actor and trying to do it bigger with bigger stars, makes all the difference. A story that works with Chiranjeevi cannot work on Nagarjuna or Balakrishna. For that matter it won’t work on Pawan Kalyan or Ram Charan Tej either.

Each actor has their own strengths and weaknesses and making a similar story would result it bad results for everyone involved. Producers failing to understand this and they are repeating the similar mistakes all the time. With this, the cost of production increased and hero dependent. Where whatever might be the script, it is hero that matters for making a movie.Producers are running after the financiers for money to meet the requirements of the stars and make a movie with them. Slowly, Black Money hoarders started coming into the picture and cash transactions have increased to no bound. Some actors even preferred to take half amount through check and half amount through cash. With Demonetization, only few actors who preferred checks are relieved while some are feeling the pressure.

This move is a big help for producers as many of them kept saying, something should bring the rates down, the budgets down. But big producers have said that the actors remunerations may not change as most of them preferring checks but it would be great if they accept initials as checks and take a share in the profit. Some are now suggesting, a change in the daily wages system and converting them to weekend pay like in western countries. They suggest that would reduce the cash dependency and also brings in more transparency. Some producers are taking this as a welcome move. As they have always been trusting the executive producers and production team to take care of the money and could not decide on if some is cheating them.

Now, with more cashless transactions the producer can review a bank statement or the number of check payments and to whom they all have been done. They wish that this brings down production cost to an extent and they don’t have defend the expenditure when they couldn’t really monitor it to the tee. Well, over the years producers growingly started depending on financiers who normally wish to invest on films to rotate their black money or to convert it to white. Now, if they are wishing to make check payments or bank transfers then they might have to look into other feasible options rather than loosing their properties to 10 to 24% interest rates. This could be a welcome sign and if the move can bring down production costs as well, it will be the best moment that industry would be waiting for, since a long time. So a movie of Black and White Money directed by Demonetization has just started playing.
