There were a lot of hopes on this year’s summer releases, given that the months of January through February were a major letdown, despite several hopes, due to the increasing number of omicron cases at the time.
As a result, there were a lot of expectations on the films that were scheduled to be released in the summer, which also included films that were supposed to have been released at the beginning of the year. While big budget films like RRR and KGF 2 turned out to do very well at the box office, Prabhas’s Radhe Shyam turned out to be a major disaster.
Some of the medium to small budget films were passable, with Vishwak Sen’s Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam standing out from the rest. Other big films like Acharya and Sarkaru Vaari Paata were a hit and a miss, with Acharya turning out to be a major disaster, and SVP turning out to be an average affair. With the summer ending up as a mixed bag, it is now to be seen what June has in store, and how the first half of the year will end.
