Sriram and Avika Gor starrer 10th Class Diaries under the direction of Garudavega Anji has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it fares.
Story: After leading a dissatisfied life for years, an NRI named Somayaju( Sriram) returns to India in search of his lost life and childhood love. What is Somayaju’s childhood love story with his classmate Chandini( Avika Gor)? Will he be able to meet Chandini at his native place Rajahmundry? Twists and turns in the marriage life of Chandini with Siva Balaji, forms the crucial crux of the film.
Performances: Looks-wise, Sriram is decent with his appearance as an NRI who returns to India in search of his lost life memories. Sriram’s performance during the crucial second-half proceedings is decent and adds weightage to the narrative.
Young beauty Avika Gor did her soulful role quite impressively. While Avika’s acting adds realistic texture to the film, her chemistry with Sriram looks awkward. The age difference between the lead pair is clearly visible on screen.
Srinivasa Reddy and Achut Ramarao P tried to generate fun at regular intervals. Other artists such as Himaja, Veda Archana Sastry, Siva Balaji, Nasser, and Vennela Rama Rao did their respective roles decently. The young set of artists who played the childhood roles as school kids are fine with their acting.
Technicalities: Music by Suresh Bobbili is fine. While all the songs are audible on-screen, his background score is apt for the film’s genre.
Prawin Pudi’s editing work is alright. The cinematography work by Garudavega Anji is decent as he tried to present the entire film on a colorful note. He captured natural locations in and around Chikkamagaluru beautifully.
Production values for this limited-budget movie are okay and so is the case with the artwork.
Analysis: The basic idea of making a feel-good romantic drama is good. Director Garudavega Anji’s thought of interlinking the core theme with the childhood school reunion is also fine but he struggles in presenting the film in a proper manner.
Films in this genre should be dealt on a solid manner with strong writing and engaging screenplay but sadly 10th Class Diaries falls short in these aspects only. If the taken concept is blended with decent writing and engaging narrative, the result would have been better.
To summarize, 10th Class Diaries is a concept-oriented drama that has a lot of cliches in the narrative part. Though the artists gave a decent performance, the dull and flat proceedings without any engaging moments come as a demerit for the movie.
Verdict: Lacks fresh moments!
